Thursday's card is a High Flyer

So, what do inks, stamps and painter's tape have in common? They can create an abstract, yet very easy card as in today's High Flying card.

Supplies:

                 Stamps used:

                 Eagle   3729K
                 Wings Like Eagles   3720H
                   (Into the Wild set)
Distress Inks - Fired Brick, Scattered Straw,
                                             Dried Marigold, Broken China
                 Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black
                 Painter's Tape
                 Southwest Corner Punch
                 White Glossy Cardstock
                 Turquoise Cardstock
                 Double sided Adhesive
                 craft gloves

          Cut the turquoise cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score and fold to create a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card. Cut glossy cardstock to
5 1/4" x 4 1/8" and punch corners with SW punch.
Tear four pieces of painter's tape approximately 5" long. Tuck each end under about 1/8". (Put on gloves because you can get really inky with this!)   Press painter's tape on selected color and gently press tape into ink pad. Peel off and press down at angle on glossy cardstock. Rub across and remove.
Do the same with each of the Distress ink colors. This first generation of color will be strong hued.
I found that as I do each color I keep an extra piece of glossy cardstock on the table and reapply the tape on that. You get a less intense color, which you may like better. But you now have a second cool background to use for another card .
Since the inks are on a glossy surface, it may take up to 5 minutes to dry completely. This process can be speeded up with a heat gun. If you try to stamp the image on before it is dried, the image has a tendency to smudge. (As I discovered when I first tried this.)
Stamp the Eagle and Wings Like Eagles sentiment with Tuxedo Black ink. Let dry. Adhere white glossy piece to base card.
This technique is so simple and yet looks so cool. You can use any color ink as long as it is dye based. You also could use pigment inks if you emboss it, which would give a raised look to it.
I hope you have fun with this simple, yet effective background technique.

     Happy Stamping!
